A Mess of Blues - Elvis Presley

Presley's ability to cross genre boundaries is amazing. You just don't see a lot of this today. He did rock n' roll, blues, pop, gospel, country, and more. The King of Rock n' Roll definitely earned his title, but it wasn't only Rock n' Roll he could handle. Plus, to have only had forty-two years to share himself with the world (passing away in 1977) and only a twenty-three year span of that to offer his talents (his music career began in 1954), he made a huge impact on music, movies, and the entertainment industry in general.

"Mess of Blues" was written by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman. The song wasn't one of Presley's most popular, but it did make it into the top 40. The song was a b-side to "It's Now or Never", which became a #1. Two other blues songs recorded at the same time as this one, upon Elvis' return from the army, were included on the Elivs is Back album. "Mess" didn't see an album release for eight years.
