Movin' on Up - Ja'net Dubois

As I mentioned yesterday, I'm pretty busy right now with some new things. Moving is one of those things. Hopefully, it's going to be a positive change. It's definitely going to be a big change if nothing else. Of course, it couldn't be any bigger than the one for the titular characters from this classic sitcom. The show was a spin-off of All in the Family, in which the Jeffersons were simple neighbors of the stars, the Bunkers. With this show, they took the starring role.

The theme song was written by Dubois and Jeff Barry. Since its initial recording for the show, it has become a staple in pop culture. It has appeared in numerous TV commercials, and it's been performed or referenced in several movies, including Tropic Thunder, Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties, and Phineas and Ferb: Across the Second Dimension. It was also covered by Sammy Davis Jr. in 1978 (see below), and referenced in Will Smith's "Gettin' Jiggy wit It."
