Crossfire - Stevie Ray Vaughan

Stevie Ray Vaughan has so many great songs, but this is one of my favorites. It makes a real statement about the times when the song was released, some of which carries over through today. There's not a lot to be said that people don't already know. The song overall is pretty simple with the exception of Vaughan's seamless playing. The bass is simple but really grooves. The drums are straight up time keepers in this tune. The horns are minimalist but appropriate. This is one of my favorite blues tunes.

Vaughan was heavily influenced by artists like Jimi Hendrix , BB King, Howlin' Wolf, and Chuck Berry, among others. These blues artists influence can be heard heavily in his music. Another aspect of influence for Vaughan was jazz, though. Some of that style is a little harder to pick out of the mix. He listed artists like Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell.
