I don't watch American Idol as much as I used to watch it, but it's the moments like these that make me want to watch. There have been some great moments on the show, but this is by far one of my favorites. Cook really stepped out of the box for this one. It's a completely different take on the song than Mariah Carey's original. I just love the feel he put on the tune. I've included a video of the studio version he recorded below.
Since his time on Idol, Cook has released a self-titled album that went platinum. His second album is scheduled for release later this month. It's been hit or miss as far as success goes for the winners of American Idol. I'm hoping his career goes more the way of Kelly Clarkson's than Taylor Hicks'.
