Ocean Front Property - George Strait

It doesn't get much more country than the man from my last post, but in my opinion (and I'm sure Jackson's as well) Strait is just about as country as you get. He sings about life and living it. This song is one of his best. It's really clever, and I really like that. Strait keeps doing things his way, and he doesn't seem to care how the world of music around him insists that he change. For those of you who don't know, there is no ocean front property in Arizona, just to be clear...

My dad once saw Dean Dillon, one of the co-writers of this hit, perform the song live in Nashville. He says that it was a good performance, but Dillon didn't capture the audience with his singing like King George can. He was a pretty good performer, though. Before starting the song, he told a little story about writing it, and then, he began to get a little teary, saying that every time he hears the song on the radio, he gets a great big lump...in his wallet.
